City is an event, with its spaces serving as urban stages where people and environments (built/natural) interact intimately. In such a sense, a city ceases to be static and turns into an organism. It has a character and a personality, and relates stories to those who are eager to listen. But how can one understand what the city has to say?
The purpose of this project was to explore architectural photography as a potential means of experiencing the city in event and exploring its veiled narratives.
The photographs were taken during a photowalk as part of a workshop on exploring “Deep Beauty in Architecture” and cover the areas along the Royal Trail (Shahi Guzargah) in the historical Walled City of Lahore. While other pieces of architecture captured over years, of places that have left their mark through experience and evolution, have also been included.
This project was presented at the IAPEX Forum on “Architourism: Explore, Evolve, Excel”, held as part of the Architects’ Convention & Building Materials Exhibition organized by the Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP) in February, 2018, in Lahore, Pakistan.
